Zidane has made history against all expections by leading Real-Madrid to their 11th Champions League crown. In doing this Zidane becomes the 7th person to have won the champions league both as a player and a coach after the likes of Trappatoni, Guardiola, Ancellotti, Enrique, Rijkaard, Cruyff, & Miguel Munoz.
Zidane has Ronaldo to thank who scored the winning penalty after Juanfran had bundled the 4th penalty for Atletico-Madrid. It was extremely harsh on Simeone's Atletico, who for the second time in three years are denied getting their hands on the champions league trophy.

Sergio Ramos opened the scoring for Real-Madrid via a Gareth Bale assist in the 15th minute, while Yannick Ferreira Carrasco equalized in the 79th minute of play. The match ended 1-1 after extra-time, & after penalties Atletico-Madrid lost.
Ronaldo has won his 3rd career champions league even though minus converting the winning penalty he was more or less a spectator during the entire cause of the match due to fitness problems. Ronaldo has scored in champions league final matches that his team has won in the final.
