Karius the Villain & Bale the Hero as Real-Madrid FC wins 13th  UEFA Champions League

The final of the 2017/2108 has been won & lost by Real-Madrid FC & Liverpool FC respectively & it was indeed a tale of two(2) men, yea two stand-out performers albeit in different ways, Gareth Bale the Hero & Karius the Villain.
The pre-match talk was centred around Mo-Salah the

Ronaldo Scores hat-trick & Overtakes Pele on the List of International Scorers

Cristano Ronaldo has now scored 78 to leap-frog Pele of Brazil with 77 goals. With this record Ronaldo joins the History 's five elite international scorers.

Ronaldo hit a hat-trick for Portugal in a 5-1 win over the Faroe Islands in World Cup qualifying on Thursday night to take his international tally to 78, the first of those a spectacular scissor kick early on in the game.

Pele took time-out to congratulate Ronaldo in recognition of Ronaldo's achievement.

For Ronaldo to get into first position on the international goal scorers chart he now has to overtake Godfrey Chitalu (79) in 4th position, Kunishige Kamamoto (80) in 3rd position, Ferenc Puskas (84) in 2nd position, & Ali Daei (109) in 1st position on the the international roll of honor.

Barcelona Woes Continues as Ronaldo-less Real Madrid Wins 2017 SuperCopa

Barcelona were comprehensively beaten & outclassed as Real-Madrid compounded their woes in the return leg of the 2017 Supercopa. Over two legs the result read 5-1 in favor of Los Blancos. The fact that Ronaldo was not on the pitch because of suspension as well as Bale & Isco starting on the bench didn't aid Barcelona's cause in any way.

Is this the beginning of the End for Barcelona Football Club

Barcelona recently sold Neymar  the heir to Lionel Messi against their wish to PSG FC. The sale of  Neymar to PSG FC has weaken Barcelona FC & they even tried to replace him with Coutinho & Dembele which has not actually work out for now.

During the 1st leg of the Super-Copa against Real-Madrid on Sunday the Catalans for large periods of the game showed that they were missing Neymar.

Barcelona even lost the match after Cristano Ronaldo had been given his matching orders. They could not take advantage of the fact that they were a man up & that Madrid's best player had been red-carded.

Will Barcelona be able to pick up the broken pieces, put their acts together & recover from the embarrassments they have been subjected to recently or are these signs of worst things to come? Will the sale of Neymar going to be the spark that will ignite the fall & destruction of Barcelona FC.

The Humiliation & Fall of Barcelona Football Club

The Humiliation & fall of Barcelona FC

Barcelona FC was once regarded as an institution. Real Madrid, Barcelona & Bayern Munich were on another level as far as football clubs were concern. These three clubs were once regarded as elite super extraordinary elite clubs. They had the power, money & influence to get any player that they wanted.  They could also keep any player that they wanted to keep. It was only players that were deemed surplus to requirement by these three clubs that could be purchased by other clubs taking the case of Mandzukic, Di-maria, Sanchez & Ozil as examples.

Do Football coaches Win Matches, Trophies, & Titles by Luck or By Their Level Of Expertise

Great Football Managers
Now the world great coaches, name them from Sir Alex Ferguson, Jupp Heynckes, Fabio Capello, Jose Mourinho, Louis Vaal Gaal, Carlo Ancellotti, & Pep Guardiola to mention but a few all needed luck at one point or the other in their career to win some critical matches. When luck ran out against them at one point or the other they became ordinary coaches.

Griezmann Greases German Machine as Les Bleus Cruise into Euro 2016 Final

By Sammy Aniekan for EddySam Sports

History was made & a new record was set by France as General Antoinne Griezmann fired France into the finals of Euro 2016. Prior to this game, France had never defeated Germany in a competitive game at any tournament but Griezmann rose to the occasion to nullify that trend rewriting history in the process.

The Germans were crushed by two goals to zero, & both goals were scored by Griemann. The first goal came via a penalty which Griezmann calmly dispatched sending Manuel Neuer the other way after Schweinsteiger had handled Evra's header in the penalty area on the stroke of half-time while the second goal came in the closing stages of the second half after blunders from Joshua Kimmich & Manuel Neuer.

The German got a dose of their own medicine after they also rewrote history by beating the Italians for the first time in a senior men's football competition in the quarter finals but this time around history was broken to their own detriment. So France and Portugal are now going to slug it out in the final game of Euro 2016.

England's Opening Game Hoodoo Lingers on in France Euros 2016

By Sammy Aniekan for EddySam Sports

The Three Lions of England were unable to win a tournament's opening game at the nine time of asking at the Euros in France.  Even though England dominated the game from start to finish they were frustrated for large spells of the game by the Russians who were highly defensively organized and whose game plan was to play deep.

The opening goal came quite late in the 73rd minute of the 2nd half for England through a Eric Dier's free-kick, but their joy was short -live as their defensive short comings allowed Berezutski to grab the equalizer for Russia in the 92nd minute of injury time. The match was marred by violence before & after the game.

Roy Hodgson Commits Blunder by Selecting Players based on Reputation & Sentiments Over Performance & Form

Rooney, Hodgson & Wilshere
Roy Hodgson has already picked his team for Euro 2016 tournament that is starting in France next week. One glaring omission is Drinkwater who was very outstanding through out the entire season as Leicester won the league in England while Jack Wilshere of Arsenal is a surprise inclusion that beats the imagination.

Jack Wilshere only played 141 minutes of football in the just concluded season after breaking his leg in the Community Shield. Jack Wilshere is not match fit, neither is he in form so one beings to wonder what Roy Hodgson is taking him to France to do. So Hodgson has gotten it wrong here.

Hodgson already has Captain Rooney in his team who is not in form & was just average  in the just concluded season whom he is going to be field when the tournament kicks off in some days time. If Hodgson is banking on Rooney & Wilshere to deliver the goods for England  then the three Lions should start planning for their exit in France after the first round.

Hodgson lacks the ruthlessness to succeed with the three Lions & has not learn from past experiences about taking unfit players to tournaments. Players should be selected on form & not on reputation. Spain paid a heavy price at the last world cup when they selected a team base on past achievements & England may pay a similar price too.

Zidane's Real-Madrid Wins Undecima(11th Champions League) at the Expense of Simeone's Lead Atletico-Madrid in Milan

Zidane wins champions league at 1st attempt

Zidane has made history against all expections by leading Real-Madrid to their 11th Champions League crown. In doing this Zidane becomes the 7th person to have won the champions league both as a player and a coach after the likes of Trappatoni, Guardiola, Ancellotti, Enrique, Rijkaard, Cruyff, & Miguel Munoz.
http://bit.ly/39JQkCC Zidane has Ronaldo to thank who scored the winning penalty after Juanfran had bundled the 4th penalty for Atletico-Madrid. It was extremely harsh on Simeone's Atletico, who for the second time in three years are denied getting their hands on the champions league trophy.

Sergio Ramos opened the scoring for Real-Madrid via a Gareth Bale assist in the 15th minute, while Yannick Ferreira Carrasco equalized in the 79th minute of play. The match ended 1-1 after extra-time, & after penalties Atletico-Madrid lost.
Ronaldo has won his 3rd career champions league even though minus converting the winning penalty he was more or less a spectator during the entire cause of the match due to fitness problems. Ronaldo has scored in champions league final matches that his team has won in the final.

Barcelona Capitulates to Valencia As they Experience a Trinity of Straight Defeats in La-Liga

Barcelona have gotten themselves into troubled waters as they lost by a 1-2 scoreline to Valencia at the Camp Nou their third straight defeat in La-Liga. This results leaves them level on point with Atletico  & just a point ahead of eternal rivals Real-Madrid. Even though Messi reach a new milestone by scoring his 500th international career goal, it made no difference as they lost ground on the league table.

Mighty Barcelona Eliminated Out of Champions League by Atletico Madrid as the Curse of the Champions League Remains Unbroken

Defending champions Barcelona were humbled by two goals to zero(2-0) as Atletico Madrid cruise into the semi-finals of the 2015/2016 UEFA champions league 3-2 on aggregate at their expense. The result ensured that no team have been able to successfully defend the champions league in it's new format & the curse of the champions league with respect to the defending champion still remains unbroken & history unchanged.

Barcelona had won the first leg by 2-1 & needed just a draw to scale through to the next round but it was not to be as the deadly trio of Messi, Suarez & Neymar(MSN) were effectively neutralized & made to look ordinary during the encounter. Antoine Griezmann who scored both goals for Atletico was at his lethal best. The result means that Barcelona could not re-write history.

Ronaldo Scores Hat-Trick as Real-Madrid Cruises into Champions League Semi-Final at the Expense of Wolfsburg

Real-Madrid have qualified for the semi-final of the 2015/2016 champions league thanks to the heroism of three times world footballer of the year Ronaldo. Los Blancos needed to over-turn a 2-0 deficit from the first leg & Ronaldo rose to the occasion as he scored in the 15 ,17 & 77 minute of play.

Ronaldo rewrote the history books by equalling his record of 16 goals in a single champions league season, & breaking his own all time champions league record of 90 goals having now scored 93 goals in all. This was Ronaldo’s 37 hat-trick for Real-Madrid.

Real-Madrid Ends Barcelona 39-Game Unbeaten Run as the BBC Trinity Out-Shines the MSN Trio in Zidane’s First El-Classico

By Sammy Aniekan for Eddysam Educators Sports

Real Madrid defeated Barcelona by a 2-1 score-line in Zinedine Zidane’s first El-Classico as the manager of Real-Madrid at the Nou-Camp. The result has actually thrown the title race open again. It was sweet revenge for the 4-0 battering which Real-Madrid got at the hands of Barcelona earlier in the season in the first leg of the encounter at the Santiago-Bernabeu.

Much was said about the destructive form of the MSN(Messi, Suarez, & Neymar) attacking trident of Barcelona prior to the match but it was as if they were not on the pitch for the entire duration of the match as the Real’s inspired trinity of BBC(Bale, Benzema & Cristiano Ronaldo) stole the show. The BBC all had their hands in the goals.

Pique headed Barcelona into the lead in the 56th minute from a corner-kick. Benzema equalized in the 62nd minute from an acrobatic volley. Bale had a goal incorrectly disallowed in the 80th minute. Sergio Ramos was given the matching orders in the 83rd minute. Ronaldo scored the winning goal in the 85th minute assisted by Bale.

Messi was unable to score his 500th senior career goal as he was not at the party while Zidane broke recent history to win his first El-Classico as a Real-Madrid manager. Ronaldo show that he still has the drive in him & the ability to perform at the highest level as it had been said prior to the match that he can’t produce the goods in the big matches any-more.

Messi & Bale Talks Tough in Zinedine Zidane’s First El-Classico Match as Manager of Real-Madrid

By Samuel Aniekan for Eddysam Educators Sports

It gets no bigger than this as Real-Madrid & Barcelona lock horns this Saturday the 2nd of April in what is arguably going to be a mouth-watering encounter. Who is going to come out on top come Saturday? Is the MSN lead Barcelona or the BBC lead Real-Madrid? We’ll be finding out come Saturday the 2nd of April 2016.

The match is definitely going to be tension soaked & full of suspense and intrigue as both teams have their star players in in the right gear & top form at the moment. Apart from Raphael Varane of Real-Madrid who is injured at the moment, there are no suspensions and injuries concerns for both teams.

Zidane in what is going to be his first El-Classico as a manager is the man saddled with the responsibility of fashioning out a winning strategy making sure that Real come out on top at the end of the day & are not disgraced like it happened under coach Rafael Benitez the last time the match took place.

Pride is the major thing that is at stake as the result is going to have little or no influence on the destination of the league title as Barcelona are already 9 points ahead of their closest rival Atletico-Madrid & 10 points ahead of Real who are in 3rd place. Will the Barcelona attacking trident of MSN(Messi, Suarez & Neymar) come out on top at the top or will it be Real-Madrid’s trinity of BBC(Benzema, Bale & Cristiano Ronaldo).

Gareth Bale who is in the form of his life at the moment has said that even though coach Zidane isn’t using him in his favoured position that he his raring to go & that he is not going to allow personal interest to over-shadowed the team’s interest & that if they win come Saturday that Real-Madrid stand a chance of still winning the league at the end of the season.

Lionel Messi has said that he is extra motivated to score his 500th senior international career goal during the encounter as there is no better moment to reach such a milestone than in the biggest man in world football the El-Classico

The Super Eagles of Nigeria today crashed out of the 2017 African cup of nations to be hosted in Gabon with a game to spare in the qualifying series after losing by a 1-0 scoreline to the Egyptian Pharaohs in a must win game. The Eagles came into the game knowing that nothing short of a victory will put them in pole position to qualify for the event after drawing the first leg 1-1 in Kaduna on Friday & lagging behind the Egyptians by two points. The only goal of the encounter was scored by Ramadan Sobhy of Egypt in the 65th minute.

Egypt's Mohammed Salah Spoilts the Party for Nigeria in AFCON 2017 Qualifier

The Samson Siasia lead Super -Eagles of Nigeria were cruising to a 1-0 home victory before AS Roma winger Mohammed Salah crept in from no-where to score to force a 1-1 stalemate .

Nigeria had taken the lead through Oghenekaro Etebo goal in the 60th minute & the Super Eagles almost held on to the end of the match but Salah score the equalizer in the 92nd minute of play.

As it stands right now Nigeria needs to defeat the Egyptians in Cairo to stand any chance of qualifying for the 2017 AFCON.

Mesut Ozil Of Arsenal a Big Game Flop

By Sammy Aniekan for Eddy Educators Sports

Mesut Ozil has been lauded several times this season as the best midfield artiste & enforcer who bosses & dictates play from the midfield with ease but during the weekend when Arsenal took on Chelsea, Ozil was no where to be found as he was missing from the party.

No player has controlled the midfield with the consistency that Ozil has demonstrated in the 2015/2016 football season. He has the highest number of assists in the current season & he has eclipse Fabregas record of assist per game. He splits defenses with ease & calm but against Chelsea on Sunday he was no where to be found. He was on the pitch for the entire duration of the game but it was as if he was sleeping on the pitch as he couldn't really make meaningful contribution or impart through-out the entire period of the game.

In-fact Ozil has never be able to raise his game nor influence any game in which Chelsea is the opponent since he moved to Arsenal. He has always been missing in action when Chelsea is the opponent. If Arsenal FC club are really serious about ending their BPL title drought this season, then Ozil just have to step-up to be the man for the big occasion. Also if Ozil wants to be counted & ranked in the same league as club legends such as Dennis Bergkamp, Patrick Vieira & Thierry Henry he needs to really begins to pull his weight in big games such as this one.
