Metabolism which is the ease with which the body digest food and assimilates nutrients has a great influence on the quality of our health. Increasing the speed at which metabolism occurs in our bodies can have a positive impart on the state of our health.

The key to a healthier you lies in your metabolism and how clean your internal body is. There are many ways to speed up your metabolism to burn up fat and convert calories into energy.

The best way to speed up your metabolism is by engaging in regular exercise. Develop an exercise program and adhered to it making slight alterations to your exercise program from time to time so that your body does not become conditioned to a particular program after it has reach its peak and can't derive any more benefits from such exercise routine. 

The exercises you engage in does not have to be complex. Any simple exercise that will get your body & joints in motion is okay. Examples of such exercise include cycling, jogging, jumping, swimming, dancing etc.

The type of food you eat can go a long way in either boosting your metabolism or slowing it down. So you need to watch what you eat and how often you eat and the time at which you take your meals. Eating late at night just before going to bed is to be avoided at all cost because when you are asleep your digestive system is going to become inactive and as a result such food will end up being undigested.

Eat metabolism boosting foods like: Apples, Garlic, Green & Leafy vegetables, Water-leaf(Spinach), Oranges, Lemons, Mangoes, Tomatoes, Ginger, Onions, Carrots, Turnips, Cucumbers, Pawpaw, Pineapple, Grapefruit, Lettuce, Berries, Raw Nuts & Seeds, etc. Also ensure that you drink water in large quantities all through the day.

The following additional lifestyle habits can be adopted to boost your metabolism:
  • Start early with a light breakfast that includes only fresh fruits.
  • Eat spicy foods as this will ignite your metabolism into a fast gear.
  • Chew your food very well before swallowing. This will save your body's energy stores & speed up your metabolism.
  • Eat often in small quantities all through the day as this puts less stress on your digestive system & lets it work more efficiently. 
  • Drink water as often as possible & never wait till you are thirsty. Digestion requires a good amount of water.
